During TRB there were numerous requests for additoinal activities for Eisenhower fellows. During the course of this year we will occasionally post questions seeking your input. I ask that you be honest in your assesments and reccomendations, as they will be reviewed and considered. Thank You in advance for your help.
In preperation for TRB in 2006 please provide some activities or events that you would like to see given to and for Eisenhower Fellows. Thank you, I look forward to your responses.
I think that it would be a great benefit for all of the Eisenhower Fellows to introduce themselves at the Networking Reception following the TRB Research Showcase. Each Fellow in attendance could provide a 30 second statement about themselves, their research and career objectives. It may also be valuable to include a list of all of the current Eisenhower Fellows in the Research Showcase program including name, school, e-mail, and area of interest. Again, this may be another way for the Fellows to continue networking throughout the year.
Thank you for the suggestion Hillary. We are looking into altering the format for TRB in 2006, so that fellows can be provided with greater contact with each other as well as networking opportuniites.
I agree a list of fellows along with interests, etc should be provided to the fellows before the presentations. Since my interest was not one of the "chosen few" I was not able to contact anyone with my similar interests in asphalt pavements at the reception. After coming home, I was contacted by another fellow, because she talked with my advisor, it turns out our research projects are very similar and it would have been absolutely great had we been able to meet at TRB. Since I did not know she existed, we did not meet each other. Another recommendation is to present atleast one presentation from each research area, instead of 4 presentations on 5 topics. That way all fellows are exposed to all research areas.
