Detectable Warnings

Are truncated domes also mandatory on all Air Force Base new construction curb ramps?
In areas with expected public visitation or non-military employment, yes. In 1993 a Secretary of Defense memo/resolution directed the services to follow ADAAG whenever ADAAG provides greater access than UFAS for all DoD funded projects (see www.afcee.brooks.af.mil/dc/dcd/afada/policy%2020oct93.pdf). In 1996 the USAF HQ modified the requirement, but only with respect to areas exclusively used by able-bodies military personnel. To my knowledge the directive still stands. Current ADAAG section 4.7.7 requires the provision of detectable warning surfaces on all curb ramps. Jurgen ADAAG 4.7.7
Detectable Warnings. A curb ramp shall have a detectable warning complying with 4.29.2. The detectable warning shall extend the full width and depth of the curb ramp.
